Yesterday in the supermarket in Colombia, I came across a most interesting fruit that I have never seen or heard of before. It is called "ghanabana", with the accent over the 2nd "a". I googled it and found some intriguing facts about the pulp, which is used primarily in making juice. Here in Colombia, people make their own juice every day from fruit. A blender is a necessity here! The ghanabana pulp contains mostly water with many minerals and vitamins. It has natural medicinal and healing effects. The website indicated it can be used for colds, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, calming your nerves, an insecticide, and even cancer or reducing the negative side-effects of cancer treatments! I was told I have already had this in some of the juices that I was served. All of the juices they make here from strawberries, papaya, mango, and whatever fruit I am not even aware of are really good!!
