I am planning to retire from my current position in the work force. But as I think about the word "retire", I realize that is really not a description of what I will be doing. I will be embarking on a "commencement" of a new path or journey in my life. In Spanish, the word for retire is "jubilarse" and retirement is a "jubliacion"! Now that is more like it!! A jubilation is a time of rest and forgiveness of debt in Biblical terms. According to Leviticus, slaves and prisoners would be freed, debts would be forgiven, and the mercies of God would particularly manifest. Leviticus 25:8–13 states that the Jubilee in the 50th year shall be consecated and holy. There shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the Lord. So I am not planning to do a Bible study here on Jubilee but how can it not remind me of what the Bible speaks of when the translation is "jubilacion"! I believe the time for me will be one of liberation and consecration to Him that I may serve more focused and not distracted by a job. I will see what the Lord has for me but as I wait for direction, I plan to develop this website, add more photos, hike more, learn Spanish better, and see what all that is preparing me for!
